Albendazole 400 mg

Albendazole is an "antihelmintic," or anti-worm, medication. It causes degenerative alterations in the cells of the worm. Degenerative changes in the endoplasmic reticulum lead to the decreased production of adenosine triphosphate (ATP), which is the energy required for the survival of the helminth. So, the parasite is immobilized and dies.

Usage.

Albendazole is used against such worms, as:

• Threadworms or pinworms
• Roundworms,
• Whipworms
• Tapeworms
• Hookworms
  

How to take Albendazole?

• with a high-fat meal
• with a full glass of water
• exactly as directed by your doctor
• take all of the albendazole that has been prescribed for you even if you begin to feel better.

Drug interactions.

Albendazole may interact with::

• clozapine
• dexamethasone
• aminophyline
• coffeine
• olanzapine
• mexiletine
  

Albendazole possible side effects.

• Dizziness,
• headache,
• fever,
• nausea, vomiting

Albendazole and pregnancy / lactation.

Do not take when pregnant, and do not become pregnant for one month after taking this drug.

Do not take this medication if you are breast-feeding a baby.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
