Ramipril 1.25/2.5/5/10mg

Ramipril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme (ACE) inhibitor, which prevents the formation of angiotensin II from angiotensin I and leads to relaxing of arterial muscles and enlarging of the arteries. This decreases a blood pressure.

Ramipril is a prodrug and is converted to the active metabolite ramiprilat.

Usage.

Ramipril is used to treat:

• hypertension;
• congestive heart failure;
• left ventricular dysfunction after myocardial infarction
  

Drug interactions.

Ramipril may interact with such drugs, as:

• Alpha1 blockers
• Aspirin
• Diuretics
• Insulin
• Lithium
• Mercaptopurine
• NSAIDs
• Potassium-sparing diuretics
• Trimethoprim (high dose)
  
  

Ramipril possible side effects.

• cough
• hypotension
• angina
• postural hypotension
• syncope
• headache
• dizziness
• fatigue
• vertigo
• hyperkalemia
• nausea/vomiting
• chest pain

Ramipril and pregnancy / lactation.

Do not use during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
