Rosiglitazone 2/4/8mg

Rosiglitazone is a biguanide anti-diabetic drug which suppresses hepatic glucose production. It lowers blood glucose by improving target cell response to insulin. It may be used alone drug (Avandia) and in combination with metformin (Avandamet) or with glimepiride (Avandaryl).

Usage

Rosiglitazone is used to treat:

• diabetes mellitus type 2
• polycystic ovary syndrome

Drug interactions

Rosiglitazone may interact with such drugs, as:

• cimetidine
• cefalexin

Rosiglitazone possible side effects

• lactic acidosis
• constipation,
• diarrhea,
• nausea,
• vomiting
  

Rosiglitazone and pregnancy / lactation

Use during pregnancy with caution.

Do not use during breast-feeding.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
