Captopril 25mg
Captopril is an angiotensin-converting enzyme inhibitor (ACE
inhibitor). It prevents conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II. This
causes an increase of renin activity and a reduction in aldosterone secretion.
The result - a decrease of blood pressure.
Usage.
Captopril is used to treat:
- hypertension,
- myocardial infarction
- congestive heart failure
- diabetic nephropathy
Drug interactions.
Captoprill may interact with such drugs, as:
- blood pressure medications
- Monoamine oxidase inhibitors
- Potassium salts or potassium supplements
- Lithium
- Mercaptopurine
- NSAIDs
- Potassium-sparing diuretics
- Trimethoprim (high dose)
Captopril possible side effects.
