Sucralfate 1000mg

Sucralfate is a sucrose sulfate-aluminium complex that binds to the hydrochloric acid in the stomach forming a viscous paste-like, adhesive substance. This protect against peptic acid, pepsin, and bile salts.

Usage

Sucralfate is used to treat:

• duodenal ulcers
• erosive or ulcerative gastroesophageal reflux disease
• stress ulcers

Drug interactions

Sucralfate may interact with such drugs, as:

• Digoxin,
• phenytoin,
• warfarin,
• ketoconazole,
• quinidine,
• ciprofloxacin,
• tetracycline,
• theophylline

Sucralfate possible side effects

• constipation
• diarrhea,
• dizziness,
• gastric discomfort;
• indigestion,
• nausea,
• pruritus,
• rash,
• xerostomia

Sucralfate and pregnancy / lactation

Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding only if clearly needed.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
