Celecoxib 100/200mg

Celecoxib is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID). It is a highly selective COX-2 inhibitor and primarily inhibits this isoform of cyclooxygenase. This specificity allows celecoxib and other COX-2 inhibitors to reduce inflammation (and pain) while minimizing gastrointestinal adverse drug reactions that are common with non-selective NSAIDs.

The result of this inhibition is decreased formation of prostaglandin precursors and reduction of inflammatory process.

Usage.

Celecoxib is used to treat:

• osteoarthritis,
• rheumatoid arthritis,
• acute pain,
• painful menstruation,
• familial adenomatous polyposis

Drug interactions.

Celecoxib may interact with such drugs, as:

• Aspirin
• Fluconazole
• Lithium
• Loop diuretics (bumetanide, furosemide, torsemide)
• Methotrexate
• Thiazide diuretics
• Warfarin
  

Celecoxib possible side effects.

• Diarrhea
• Respiratory tract infection
• Hypertension
• Headache
• Insomnia
• Skin rash
• Dyspepsia
• Back pain
  

   

Celecoxib and pregnancy / lactation.

Do not use during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
