Generic Cipro

Ciprofloxacin 250/500/750/1000mg

Ciprofloxacin is a broad-spectrum antibiotic in a group of drugs called fluoroquinolones. It is bactericidal and works against Gram-positive and Gram-negative bacteria. Ciprofloxacin blocks bacterial DNA replication and so inhibits cell division.

Usage.

Ciprofloxacin is used to treat:

• legionellosis,
• pneumonia,
• bronchitis,
• urinary tract infections (cystitis, prostatitis),
• skin infections
  
  

Drug interactions.

Ciprofloxacin may interact with drugs, which are metabolised by the cytochrome P450 system and also the GABA A receptor.

Ciprofloxacin possible side effects.

• Dizziness,
• headache,
• fever,
• nausea, vomiting
• irregular heartbeat,
• nervousness
• difficulty breathing
  
  

Ciprofloxacin and pregnancy / lactation.

Do not take this medication if you are pregnant or breast-feeding a baby.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
