Divalproex 300mg
Divalproex consists of sodium valproate and valproic acid. It inhibits the
function of the neurotransmitter GABA and is used in different types of epilepsy.
Usage.
Divalproex is used to treat:
- complex partial seizures
- absence seizures
- bipolar disorder
- chronic pain associated with neuropathy
- migraine headaches
Drug interactions.
Divalproex may interact with:
- alcohol
- antacids
- antiinflammatory drugs
- aspirin
- barbiturate medicines for inducing sleep or treating seizures (convulsions)
- blood thinners
- isoniazid
- medicines for mental depression
- other seizure (convulsion) or epilepsy medicines
Divalproex possible side effects.
- vomiting,
- loss of appetite,
- fever,
- dark urine
- liver damage
- hallucinations
- extreme drowsiness
Divalproex and pregnancy / lactation.
