Piroxicam 10/20mg

Piroxicam is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, non-selective COX inhibitor, which inhibits prostaglandin synthesis, decreases pain receptor sensitivity. It also acts on the hypothalamus heat-regulating center to reduce fever.

Usage

Piroxicam is used to treat:

• rheumatoid arthritis,
• and osteoarthritis,
• primary dysmenorrhoea

Drug interactions

Piroxicam may interact with such drugs, as:

• ACE inhibitors
• Angiotensin II antagonists
• Anticoagulants
• Antiplatelet drugs (ticlopidine, clopidogrel, aspirin)
• Corticosteroids
• Cyclosporine
• Lithium
• Loop diuretics efficacy
• Methotrexate
• Thiazides antihypertensive

Piroxicam possible side effects

• dizziness
• rash
• abdominal cramps,
• heartburn,
• nausea
• headache,
• nervousness
• itching
• tinnitus

Piroxicam and pregnancy / lactation

Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding with caution and only after you have visited your doctor.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
