Levofloxacin 250/500/750mg

Levofloxacin is a third-generation fluoroquinolone antibiotic, which works by inhibiting DNA gyrase, an enzyme that negatively supercoils DNA. Without DNA replication and transcription, DNA repair, recombination, and transposition bacteria cell can't survive.

Usage.

Levofloxacin is used to treat:

• prostatitis,
• sinusitis,
• anthrax,
• pneumonia,
• urinary tract infection,
• bronchitis,
• skin and skin structure infections
  
  

Drug interactions.

Levofloxacin may interact with:

• Glyburide,
• Metal cations (aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc),
• erythromycin,
• cisapride,
• antipsychotics,
• cyclic antidepressants.

Levofloxacin possible side effects.

• Dizziness,
• fever,
• headache,
• insomnia
• constipation,
• diarrhea,
• nausea, vomiting
• decreased vision,
• ocular pain or discomfort,
• pharyngitis
  

Levofloxacin and pregnancy / lactation.

It should not be used during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
