Generic Lexapro

Escitalopram 5/10/20mg

Escitalopram is a selective serotonin reuptake inhibitor (SSRI). It inhibits the reuptake of serotonin. It has the highest affinity for the human serotonin transporter (SERT). It is the S enantiomer of racemic citalopram.

Usage.

Escitalopram is used to treat:

• depression
• anxiety
• obsessive-compulsive disorder
  

Drug interactions.

Escitalopram may interact with such drugs, as:

• cisapride
• citalopram
• MAO inhibitors

Escitalopram possible side effects.

• nausea,
• somnolence,
• gastrointestinal effects,
• ejaculation disorder

Escitalopram and pregnancy / lactation.

Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit to the mother outweighs the possible risk to the fetus.

Do not take this medication if you are breast-feeding a baby.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
