Generic Lotensin

Benazepril 5/10mg

Benazepril inhibits a conversion of angiotensin I to angiotensin II, a potent vasoconstrictor. This causes an increase of renin activity and a reduction in aldosterone secretion. As a result - decreased blood pressure.

Usage.

Benazepril is used to treat:

• hypertension

Drug interactions.

Benazepril may interact with such drugs, as:

• Alpha1 blockers
• Aspirin
• Diuretics
• Insulin
• Lithium
• NSAIDs
• Potassium-sparing diuretics or potassium supplements (amiloride, potassium, spironolactone, triamterene)
  

Benazepril possible side effects.

• postural dizziness
• headache
• fatigue
• hyperkalemia
• increased uric acid
• nausea
• worsening of renal function

Benazepril and pregnancy / lactation.

Do not use during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
