Hydrochlorothiazide 25mg

Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic, which inhibits sodium reabsorption in kidneys and increases excretion of sodium and water. This reduces the volume of the blood and blood pressure.

Usage.

Hydrochlorothiazide is used to treat:

• hypertension
• congestive heart failure
• nephrotic syndrome
  

Drug interactions.

Hydrochlorothiazide may interact with such drugs, as:

• ACE inhibitors
• Beta-blockers
• Cholestyramine
• Colestipol
• Cyclosporine and thiazides
• Digoxin
• Lithium
• Neuromuscular blocking agents
• NSAIDs
• Warfarin

Hydrochlorothiazide possible side effects.

• orthostatic hypotension,
• photosensitivity,
• hypokalemia,
• anorexia,
• epigastric distress

Hydrochlorothiazide and pregnancy / lactation.

Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding with caution and only after a visit to your doctor.

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
