Minocycline Hydrochloride 100 mg

Minocycline hydrochloride is a broad spectrum tetracycline antibiotic. It is a bacteriostatic antibiotic. It works by slowing the growth of certain bacteria and allowing the body's immune system to destroy them.

Usage.

Minocycline is used to treat:

• anthrax;
• acne;
• meningococcal carrier state;
• rickettsial diseases;
• nongonococcal urethritis,
• gonorrhea;
• acute intestinal amebiasis
  

Drug interactions.

Minocycline may interact with:

• antacids,
• oral contraceptives,
• iron,
• zinc, s
• odium bicarbonate,
• penicillins,
• cimetidine

Minocycline possible side effects.

• diarrhea;
• abdominal pain;
• nausea, vomiting;
• drowsiness,
• headache;
• sensitivity to sunlight,
• fever,
• yellowing of the eyes or skin;
• discoloration of teeth (in children)

Minocycline and pregnancy / lactation.

Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.

Minocycline and children.

It may be used in children aged 8 years.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
