Gabapentin 300/400mg
Gabapentin is an anticonvulsant. It is similar by chemical structure to the
neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA), but it does not interact with
GABA receptors. It exact mechanism of action is not known, but it have properties
in common with other anticonvulsants.
Usage.
Gabapentin is used to treat:
- epilepsy
- relieve pain (neuropathic pain)
- migraine headaches
- nystagmus
Drug interactions.
Gabapentin may interact with:
- antacids
- cimetidine
- morphine
- phenytoin
Gabapentin possible side effects.
- dizziness,
- peripheral edema,
- extreme drowsiness,
- hepatotoxicity
Gabapentin and pregnancy / lactation.
Use during pregnancy only if the potential benefit to the
mother outweighs the potential risk to the fetus.
