Esomeprazole 20/40mg
Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor which suppresses gastric
acid secretion. Esomeprazole is the S-enantiomer of omeprazole.
Usage
Esomeprazole is used to treat:
- dyspepsia,
- peptic ulcer disease (PUD),
- gastroesophageal reflux disease
- Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
- in anti-Helicobacter therapy
Drug interactions
Esomeprazole may interact with such drugs, as:
- Benzodiazepines
- Carbamazepine
- Iron salts
- Itraconazole and ketoconazole
- Protease inhibitors
Esomeprazole possible side effects
- drowsiness,
- fatigue,
- rash,
- nausea,
- vomiting
- headache
- abdominal pain
- xerostomia
Esomeprazole and pregnancy / lactation
May be used during pregnancy.
