Esomeprazole 20/40mg

Esomeprazole is a proton pump inhibitor which suppresses gastric acid secretion. Esomeprazole is the S-enantiomer of omeprazole.

Usage

Esomeprazole is used to treat:

• dyspepsia,
• peptic ulcer disease (PUD),
• gastroesophageal reflux disease
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
• in anti-Helicobacter therapy
  

Drug interactions

Esomeprazole may interact with such drugs, as:

• Benzodiazepines
• Carbamazepine
• Iron salts
• Itraconazole and ketoconazole
• Protease inhibitors

Esomeprazole possible side effects

• drowsiness,
• fatigue,
• rash,
• nausea,
• vomiting
• headache
• abdominal pain
• xerostomia

Esomeprazole and pregnancy / lactation

May be used during pregnancy.

Do not use during breast-feeding.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
