Norfloxacin 400mg
Noroxin belongs to a class of drugs called quinolone antibiotics. It is a DNA
gyrase inhibitor, so it stopps the growth of bacteria.
Noroxin treats only bacterial infections and doesn' t work for viral infections
(e.g., common cold, flu).
Usage.
- urinary tract infections and cystitis
- sexually-transmitted disease (eg, uncomplicated urethral and cervical gonorrhea)
How to take Noroxin?
- usually twice a day, 1 hour before or 2 hours after a meal
- take with a full glass of water
- take this medication 2 hours before or 2 hours after taking any products
containing magnesium, aluminum, or calcium.
- take the medicine until the full-prescribed amount is finished
Drug Interactions.
Noroxin may interact with:
- Corticosteroids
- Cyclosporine
- Glyburide
- Metal cations (aluminum, calcium, iron, magnesium, and zinc)
- Nitrofurantoin
- Probenecid
- QTc-prolonging agents
- Warfarin
Noroxin possible side effects.
- Headache
- dizziness
- nausea
- weakness
- tremor
- sunburn-like skin reaction (sun sensitivity).
Noroxin and pregnancy / lactation.
It's better to avoid taking Norfloxacin while you are pregnant and breast-feeding
a baby. What is the shelf life of the pills?
- The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
