Famotidine 20/40mg

Famotidine is a histamine H2-receptor antagonist. Histamine stimulates the release of acid into the stomach and famotodin blocks its receptors and inhibits acid production in stomach.

Usage

Famotidine is used to treat:

• dyspepsia,
• peptic ulcer disease (PUD),
• gastroesophageal reflux disease
• heartburn
• in anti-Helicobacter therapy

Drug interactions

Famotidine may interact with such drugs, as:

• Cefpodoxime
• Cefuroxime
• Cyclosporine
• Delavirdine
• Itraconazole and ketoconazole

Famotidine possible side effects

• drowsiness,
• fatigue,
• rash,
• nausea,
• vomiting
• headache
• abdominal pain
• xerostomia

Famotidine and pregnancy / lactation

May be used during pregnancy.

Do not use during breast-feeding.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
