Mefenamic acid 250/500mg
Mefenamic acid is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug,
which inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by decreasing the activity of the cyclooxygenase.The
result of this inhibition is decreased formation of prostaglandin precursors
and reduction of inflammatory process.
Usage
Mefenamic acid is used to treat:
- osteoarthritis,
- rheumatoid arthritis,
- dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps)
- fever and pain
- psoriatic arthritis
- gout
- ankylosing spondylitis
- tendinitis
- bursitis
Drug interactions.
Mefenamic acid may interact with such drugs, as:
- Angiotensin II antagonists
- Anticoagulants
- Antiplatelet drugs (ticlopidine, clopidogrel, aspirin, abciximab, dipyridamole,
eptifibatide, tirofiban)
- Cholestyramine
- Corticosteroids
- Cyclosporine
- Lithium
- Loop diuretic's
- Methotrexate
- Thiazide diuretics
