Pantoprazole 20/40mg

Pantoprazole is a proton pump inhibitor that destroys the ability of the parietal cells to produce gastric acid. This decreases the discomfort caused by the stomach contents rising back into the esophagus.

Usage

Pantoprazole is used to treat:

• dyspepsia,
• peptic ulcer disease (PUD),
• gastroesophageal reflux disease
• Zollinger-Ellison syndrome
• in anti-Helicobacter therapy

Drug interactions

Pantoprazole may interact with such drugs, as:

• Benzodiazepines
• Carbamazepine
• Itraconazole and ketoconazole
• Phenytoin
• Protease inhibitors
• Warfarin

Pantoprazole possible side effects

• headache
• dizziness
• rash
• diarrhea
• abdominal pain
• nausea
• weakness
• back pain
• upper respiratory infection
• cough

Pantoprazole and pregnancy / lactation

Do not use during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
