Ribavirin 200mg

Ribavirin is an anti-viral drug which inhibits replication of RNA and DNA viruses. It interferes with duplication of viral genetic material. It is usualy used in combination with interferon drugs.

Usage.

Ribavirin is used to treat:

• genital herpes
• herpes zoster (shingles)
• hepatitis C
  

Drug interactions.

Ribavirin may interact with:

• zidovudine, lamivudine or stavudine

Ribavirin possible side effects.

• hemolytic anemia;
• diarrhea;
• dizziness;
• dry mouth;
• dry skin;
• loss of appetite;
• nausea, or vomiting

Ribavirin and pregnancy / lactation.

Do not use during pregnancy and lactation.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
