Risperidone is an atypical antipsychotic that binds to 5-HT2-receptors and dopamine-D2 receptors in the CNS and in the periphery.

Usage

Risperidone is used to treat:

• schizophrenia;
• acute mania;
• obsessive-compulsive disorder;
• depression

Drug interactions

Risperidone may interact with such drugs, as:

• Antihypertensives
• Carbamazepine
• Clozapine
• Levodopa
• Metoclopramide
• Valproic acid

Risperidone possible side effects.

• dysphagia,
• esophageal dysmotility
• isomnia,
• anxiety,
• headache,
• dizziness
• weight gain
• rhinitis

Risperidone and pregnancy / lactation

Do not use during pregnancy and breast-feeding.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
