Carbamazepine 100/200mg
Carbamazepine has anticonvulsant effect, also anticholinergic, antineuralgic,
antidiuretic, muscle relaxant, antimanic, antidepressive, and antiarrhythmic
properties. It is chemically related to tricyclic antidepressants.
Carbamazepine stabilizes the inactivated state of sodium channels, making brain
cells less excitable.
Usage.
Carbamazepine is used to treat:
- epilepsy
- bipolar disorder
- schizophrenia,
- Paroxysmal extreme pain disorder,
- trigeminal neuralgia.
Drug interactions.
Carbamazepine may interact with:
- Acetaminophen
- Antimalarial drugs (chloroquine, mefloquine)
