Diclofenac 50mg

Diclofenac is a non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug, which inhibits prostaglandin synthesis by decreasing the activity of the cyclooxygenase. It has moderate preference to block the COX2-isoenzyme. The result of this inhibition is decreased formation of prostaglandin precursors and reduction of inflammatory process.

Usage.

Diclofenac is used to treat:

• osteoarthritis,
• rheumatoid arthritis,
• dysmenorrhea (menstrual cramps)
• fever and pain
• psoriatic arthritis
• gout
• ankylosing spondylitis
• tendinitis

Drug interactions.

Diclofenac may interact with such drugs, as:

• Angiotensin II antagonists
• Anticoagulants
• Antiplatelet drugs (ticlopidine, clopidogrel, aspirin, abciximab, dipyridamole, eptifibatide, tirofiban)
• Cholestyramine
• Corticosteroids
• Cyclosporine
• Lithium
• Loop diuretic's
• Methotrexate

Diclofenac possible side effects.

• Diarrhea
• Epigastric pain
• Headache
• Insomnia
• Skin rash
• Dyspepsia
• Bronchospasm
• Hypertension
  

   

Diclofenac and pregnancy / lactation.

Use during pregnancy and breast-feeding with caution and only after you have visited your doctor.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
