Acyclovir 200/400/800mg

Aciclovir is a antiviral drug, which inhibits DNA synthesis and viral replication. It slows the growth and spread of the herpes virus. Acyclovir will not cure herpes, but it can lessen the symptoms of the infection. It works best when taken very early in the course of an infection.

Usage.

Acyclovir is used to treat:

• genital herpes simplex virus (HSV),
• herpes labialis (cold sores),
• herpes zoster (shingles),
• HSV encephalitis,
• varicella-zoster (chickenpox)
  

Drug interactions.

Acyclovir may interact with:

• zidovudine
• probenecid

Acyclovir possible side effects.

• headache
• diarrhea,
• nausea, vomiting,
• abdominal pain
• skin rash or hives

Acyclovir and pregnancy / lactation.

It may be used during pregnancy with caution and only when clearly needed

Do not use during lactation.

What is the shelf life of the pills?

• The expiry date is mentioned on each blister. It is different for different batches. The shelf life is 2 years from the date of manufacture and would differ from batch to batch depending on when they were manufactured.
